Company Description

Ludum Elite is a fresh Belgian game studio founded by passionate creators and talented alumni from top programs like Digital Arts & Entertainment. We’re developing DroneTanks, a high-octane, beat-synced singleplayer roguelike horde shooter with striking visuals, responsive controls, and explosive rhythm-driven gameplay.

Backed by a clear roadmap and pending VAF prototype funding, we’re preparing a Kickstarter launch supported by strong marketing and a fully produced cinematic trailer. We operate from the Games.Brussels coworking hub, but fully remote work is available within Belgium.

Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned C++ Gameplay Programmer to join our core team during the prototype and vertical slice phases of DroneTanks. You’ll work closely with the creative director, designers, and artists to develop tight and reactive gameplay systems that support enemy behavior, AI, abilities, procedural combat challenges, and player progression.

This is a key role with direct impact on the game’s feel, mechanics, and technical structure. You’ll implement both core C++ systems and Blueprint logic where needed, and be involved in creative problem-solving as we bring our horde-based combat experience to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain core gameplay systems in Unreal Engine 5 using C++
  • Implement enemy AI, character abilities, progression logic, and wave/round-based systems
  • Work with designers and artists to create beat-synced gameplay mechanics
  • Build and prototype new combat features rapidly using both Blueprints and C++
  • Optimize, debug, and polish game logic for prototype-level stability
  • Collaborate with the team via regular meetings (online or at Games.Brussels)
  • Write clear, maintainable, and well-documented code

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5
  • Shipped at least one game title (indie or commercial)
  • Strong command of C++ and Blueprints for gameplay development
  • Solid understanding of AI behavior, abilities, and progression systems
  • Ability to work independently, meet milestones, and adapt in a startup environment
  • Based in Belgium (for funding and collaboration purposes)
  • Bonus: experience with beat-synced gameplay, modular systems, or procedural content
