Position Duties
In the context of an ongoing game development project, we are currently seeking an experienced and versatile Tech GD/LD profile who is autonomous, with the primary role being the implementation of movement-based mini-games. The position is available as soon as possible, either on a freelance basis or a fixed-term contract, with the possibility of remote work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing mini-game mechanics at the prototype level in Unreal;
- Designing and implementing “gameplay” level design in the engine/editor;
- Collaborating within a small team of programmers, artists, and animators to complete the mini-game from start to finish;
- Testing and balancing the gaming experience on Switch 1/2 with the target audience in mind (children/families);
- Communicating with other game designers and stakeholders to achieve desired goals;
- Ensuring the final quality of the mini-game.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Unreal with at least one shipped game on Switch or other consoles;
- Advanced practical knowledge of Unreal (Blueprint, 3D editor) for tasks such as prototyping, level design, implementation, integration, and balancing;
- Excellent knowledge of the 3Cs (Character, Camera, Controls);
- Experience in level design/prototyping of a shipped 3D game (cameras, design, prop placement, controllers, embellishments);
- Affinity and/or experience with party games or mini-games is a significant plus;
- Good command of English (spoken and written);
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively;
- Ability to guide teams towards a “final product” vision;
- Strong autonomy, initiative, and leadership abilities within small teams.
Additional Information
This contract is offered as a fixed-term contract (CDD) and/or a freelance mission for the duration of the project (6 months).
Our teams are based in Mons, Belgium, but given the urgency of this position, we are flexible with remote work as long as occasional visits to the studio (1 to 2 times per month) are possible.
A 1-day technical test may be required, as well as 2 interviews, with at least one conducted on-site.
