About FLEGA
The Flemish Games Association (FLEGA) is dedicated to advancing the interests of the Flemish video game development ecosystem. We support both companies and individuals connected to the industry, promoting and defending their interests in discussions with government bodies, non-game sectors, and international organizations.
Position Overview
We are seeking a part-time, passionate, and driven individual to join our team as soon as possible. This role is crucial in supporting the growth and development of the Flemish video game industry. The ideal candidate will have a deep interest in video games, excellent communication skills, and the ability to represent the sector across various platforms. The position involves both strategic and operational tasks, with the possibility of sharing responsibilities based on the candidate’s strengths and needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Representation: Act as the primary spokesperson for FLEGA, representing the interests of Flemish game developers. Guide government officials, including ministers, in understanding and supporting the game development sector.
- Communication: Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, engage with the press, draft official documents, and articulate the sector’s needs.
- Networking: Build and maintain relationships with developers, industry stakeholders, and government bodies to ensure FLEGA’s credibility and influence.
- Non-Profit Administration: Manage FLEGA’s administrative tasks, including working with accountants, handling invoices and payments, and organizing board meetings and general assemblies while ensuring legal compliance.
- Operational Support: Oversee various projects and initiatives that support the industry. While not focused on managing a team, some tasks may be delegated or shared with others.
- Travel: Attend both domestic and international trade shows, such as the Game Developers Conference (San Francisco) and Gamescom (Cologne), which may require multi-day travel.
- Advocacy: Champion the needs of the Flemish game industry at national and international levels, influencing policies that benefit the sector.
Key Qualifications
- A genuine passion for video games and a deep understanding of the industry.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- Proven experience in lobbying and advocacy.
- Strong networking abilities across diverse sectors.
- Independent worker capable of managing complex administrative tasks.
- Willingness to attend evening events and occasionally travel for trade shows and missions.
- Proficiency in French.
Additional Assets
- Experience in event organization.
- Previous experience working with a board of directors or in a sector federation/non-profit.
