Geert Nellen
I create games. People call me to help transform weird and experimental ideas into fun and functional (and even weirder) games.
Worked as a designer on games like Mini Motorways, Manifold Garden, Viewfinder, and Metrico+.
Geert Nellen (graduated at the High School of Arts Utrecht, the Netherlands, 2010) is a game designer, artist, and creative director, based in the Netherlands. Geert focuses on game design and narrative design, but also works as art director and artist. He is interested in the limitless potential of games as an art form and storytelling medium, and draws inspiration for his designs from other media and arts. Geert is an expert on (systemic) puzzle design, narrative design, psychology, team management, and experimental game design.
In 2010 Geert co-founded independent game development studio Digital Dreams, which released ‘Metrico’; a game inspired by data visualization.
After Digital Dreams, Geert worked as a lead designer on Mini Motorways, and as a freelance designer on puzzle-rich games like Manifold Garden, Viewfinder, and Koira.
Geert also was a game expert in the Digital Culture board of the Dutch ‘Stimuleringsfonds’ grant program, and is a game expert in the board of the Creative Europe grant program of the European Union.
