Here are the Games Industry Highlights | Week 32-34 provided by ForsVC.
🌍 Charles Martinet, the legendary voice of Mario, is stepping back from the microphone and will no longer be recording his voice for Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, and many other characters.
🌍 More and more companies are hiring for fully remote positions, including Bungie who has expressed a commitment to a digital-first future without a return to office mandate.
🌍 October is so busy, multiple games are shifting release times to avoid the rush. Including Alan Wake 2 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
🌍 The Pokémon Company International has acknowledged the issues that come from releasing main-line titles too close to each other and will take steps to avoid it.
🌍 Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch 2 launched on Steam but faced waves of negative reviews. Only 9% of the 155K+ reviews are positive. Blizzard & NetEase Games ended their agreement for the distribution of Blizzard PC games in China, leading chinese players to lose their accounts. The launch on Steam is the first time that gamers can vent on an open and international platform, with many taking the opportunity to do so.
🌍 Microsoft plans to sell off Activision Blizzard cloud gaming rights to Ubisoft, in a bid for UK approval of its $68.7 billion deal. This is a big restructuring of the acquisition.
