About the Role
The Artistocrats, an independent game studio, is looking for a Gameplay Programmer to expand their team working on strategy games, including DLCs for Starship Troopers: Terran Command. You will work closely with designers, artists, and programmers to implement gameplay features, learn from an established codebase, and gain performance-focused development experience in a small, growing team.
Responsibilities
- Implement and refine gameplay features for live content and DLC
- Develop features from prototype through production-quality implementation
- Debug, improve usability and polish features for release
- Participate in playtesting, debugging and balancing with RTS-focused feedback
- Learn profiling, optimization and software design practices
- Write robust, maintainable code
Requirements
- Fluent English (spoken and written)
- Available on-site in Hasselt at least 3 days per week
- Solid C# foundation, with understanding of algorithmic performance and 3D math
- Team-minded, proactive and eager to learn
- Genuine interest in strategy / RTS games
- Nice-to-have: fluent Dutch
- Nice-to-have: Unity Engine experience
- Nice-to-have: C++ knowledge
- Nice-to-have: portfolio of personal or professional game projects
- Nice-to-have: 3D graphics / shader programming experience
- Nice-to-have: systems-heavy gameplay programming experience
- Nice-to-have: non-Unity development background
- Nice-to-have: Git and agile workflow familiarity

The Artistocrats is an established independent game development studio based in Hasselt. Creators of Starship Troopers: Terran Command and the Order of Battle WW2 series.
After 5 years of development we successfully released "Starship Troopers - Terran command" in 2022. The game is based on the Starship Troopers movie franchise and quickly became one of the best selling RTS games on Steam that year.
