🌍 Bethesda Game Studios‘ latest title, Starfield, is currently performing very well for a game that isn’t officially out yet, topping Xbox sales charts and drawing in thousands of users on Steam. Players are paying ~$30 for the early access on Xbox and $100 for the premium edition on Steam. Despite the high cost, Steam already had a ~250K active player spike around release.

🌍 BioWare is laying off ~50 employees, in the the midst of development on the next Mass Effect title and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. These were “necessary to ensure the health of the studio.”

🌍 After 30 years of activity, Volition is shutting down. The studio was one of those affected by Embracer Group’s restructuring efforts after a $2 billion investment deal with Saudi Arabia’s Savvy Games Group fell through.

🌍 VideoGamesEurope has shared some key facts from 2022, including a notable 12% increase in industry employment across Europe and a rise in gender representation, with 23.7% being women. More numbers and facts:
